i've been indulging in a bit of literary escapism through enid blyton's the faraway tree series. revisiting the familiar characters and storylines has been so fun and served as a very good way to avoid thinking about the many things to stress about in may.
i'm surprised by how easily the book kindles my imagination - for so long i've been reading books that aren't really good fodder for my mind to conjure up images of, books on theatre or history. so it's been really fantastic to imagine the endless goodies in the land of goodies, or what the interesting snacks the children & their friends eat (google buns, toffee shocks, pop biscuits).
and most of the lands that they visit are equally as wonderful - the land of magical medicine, the land of take-what-you-want, the land of do-as-you-please, the land of giants. each and every one of them make me deliriously happy.
